SPEED100 / InstallingTheSPEED100

Installing the SPEED100

Quick Checklist

  • Attach the supplied GNSS antenna to “GPS” on the rear of the unit.
  • If using 4G LTE corrections, insert a SIM card
  • Attach a 4G LTE antenna to “4G Main” on the SPEED100 (whether using corrections over 4G LTE or not)
  • If using Base station corrections, attach a radio modem to the Modem port on the rear.
  • Supply 12V power to the SPEED100.
  • Configure the SPEED100 for relevant outputs (NMEA / RT format serial), CAN messages
  • Connect the RS232/NMEA or CAN outputs as required

Full Instructions

The SPEED100 will be supplied with a suitable dual frequency GNSS (GPS + GLONASS) antenna; this must be connected to “GPS” on the rear of the unit. If the GPS2 is to receive 4G LTE corrections, then a SIM card must be inserted into the rear of the SPEED100, and a 4G LTE GSM antenna must be attached to “4G Main” on the rear of the SPEED100.

NOTE: A 4G LTE antenna should always be attached to the SPEED100 wherever the corrections are coming from.

If the SPEED100 is to receive base station corrections, then attach the supplied radio modem to the “Modem” port on the rear of the SPEED100. If using a third party radio modem, ensure that its serial output is configured to run at the same baud rate as the SPEED100. Also ensure that the attached base station is set to output RTCM 3.x corrections

If using Race Technology format RS232 data, attach a null modem cable directly to the serial port on the front, for NMEA data connect to the rear via a suitable breakout cable (available from Race Technology).

To receive CAN data, attach a CAN cable to “CAN” on the rear of the SPEED100. The cable must contain termination if required, since the SPEED100 does not contain internal termination. Connect 12V power to the rear of the unit using the supplied cable.

Configure the SPEED100 through the USB port.

Check for correct operation on the LCD.

If connecting to a Race Technology data logger such as the DL2, ensure that the logger is configured to receive the relevant GPS messages on whichever serial port the SPEED100 is attached to.

Software

The SPEED100 is set up using a simple configuration software from a PC over the USB port

All our software is available as a single download which includes all programs and the documentation. This is available for free download here.
